Follow These Steps

Please be Advised these instructions were written in 1997-1998 prior to our Online Parcel Database.
When the Maps could only be accessed using our Tax Map "Download" Sections.

It is now easier to use our Online Parcel Database to Look for and Download
Tax Maps and search for Subdivisions, Street or Route Information.

[Online Parcel Database]

You can go to the County Index Map Page.

If you know the district of the tax map you need, move your cursor to the name of that district and
left click on it once. This will take you to a Download Page for that district.

Now find the number of the map needed and left click on it once to begin the download process.

If you do not know the map you need, but do know the location of something near it.
Use the
County Index Page link which is located on the County Index Map Page
to look up the
Area or Subdivision Name, Street Name
or
County Road Route Number.

For a detailed example of how to use the County Index Page
see the bottom of this page.

After the information needed has been found, return to the  County Index Map.
Placing the cursor on the district name needed, left click your mouse button once.

This will take you to the maps and related information available at this time for that district .
Once there you need to find the map number and left click on it once.
This will start the download process.

A Download Window will appear with an open file folder with papers moving from left to right.
This is part of a necessary process for you to receive data from our website.
To complete this process may take a few seconds or may last for 30 - 60 seconds.

When prompted to Open or Save to disk, Save To Disk Then click Ok.

When a file is opened online it takes just as much time as it does to actually
download the file. Once the file is downloaded to your hard drive it will be available for future
use when needed, without having to go online and download it again.

Then a "Save As" Window will appear which will want you to determine where on your computer
you want the map files to be saved.
You can accept the defaulted map number or rename the file, then click Save.

Problems Viewing "Downloaded" Maps

Maps are intended to be "Downloaded" to your computer,
Not Viewed while Online using your Web Browser.

Users attempting to view Tax Map files while Online, using their Web Browsers.
May encounter various Printing or Viewing problems that are out of our control.
Such problems have been associated to various Web Browser "Plug-ins"
which have been  installed on their computers.

If the Downloaded Tax Map file has been identified as a
"tiffDocument" it will not function properly in your software.

Resulting in some software not being able to read the file.

To correct this, retype the map number with a .tif where Explorer has the number as the file name.
Then proceed as normal with your download.
The file will then open as expected.

This may be a problem with Explorer or the way in which individual computer's have been
configured to read certain files.

No such problem has been observed when using Netscape Communicator.

If your downloaded file is identified as the Windows Default Icon.
You may need to:
1.  Associate a program to read the file.
2. Need to edit the file extension to a
.tif

If a "tif image file" or "tif" is indicated in the "Save As" Window or a Image Program Name,
such as Paint Shop Pro etc., then proceed with the download by determining the
location where the file is to be saved.

Select Save and a Download Window will appear giving you the amount of the file that has
downloaded and the estimated time to complete the download.

When the download is complete the map can then be viewed using software
that is capable of reading a tif file with LZW compression.

When you are at any of the District Download Pages you will find a
District Index Frame located on the left of your screen.

This Frame contains a Thumbnail Image of the (13) tax map districts that are available.
These give you access to the other download pages without having to go back
to the County Index Map every time you need to change tax districts.

We hope the above information will be of assistance in the use of our Website.
